| What is the MARIA-BAPTISM? |
| I have with
the help of my friends, done some research and managed to discover something
that may answer the enquirer. What follows is not official Roman Catholic theology. This is underlined by the fact that most theologians, liturgists, and others I asked, as well as I myself had never heard of MARIABAPTISM. I can only assume that the so-called MARIABAPTISM relates to the kind of pious thinking expressed below. The style and content of this article is so very far removed from authentic Catholic teaching, that your enquirer may wish to consider carefully what use, if any, this information should be put. I found an article on the internet (www.catholictreasures.com/articles/demaria ) which states: > Catholic life begins in the sacramental waters of Baptism. In this sacrament, > the life of Christ is germinated in the soul and a sort-of DNA chain is > infused, a genetic code laid into the person who becomes an "alter Christus", > another Christ. The key paragraph seems to be > This is the theme of the life and teaching of one of the > greatest Marian priests who ever lived, St. Maximillian Kolbe, who wanted to > see every person renew his baptismal promises by making an unreserved > consecration to the Immaculata, thus making effective his re-birth in > baptism. In short, I would prefer the enquirer sought for guidance within the New Testament, or within recognised sources of reference for Catholic teaching on the subject of baptism. The thought that Christian baptism may not be 'effective without an unreserved consecration to the Immaculata' seems to me to be quite inconsistent with any orthodox Catholic teaching, and at best misleading. Simply the attachment of St Maximillian Kolbe's name to such words, does nothing to authenticate such an unusual theology. In addition I do not know what is meant by the phrase 'Marian Priest'. The only 'Marian priests' I know of were living in the time of Mary Tudor Queen of England 1553 1558. It is a collective title for the priests that were restored to Catholic Worship and practice during her reign. I have reproduced extracts from the article below in case your enquirer wishes to read more.
