Our church has the "Clifton Stations" in place of the traditional Stations of the Cross, I am currently putting together a "new look" web site which will include these, and would like to know if there are any sanctioned prayers for each station that I could use. If not then I guess we could create our own, but "official" ones would be nice.
I was involved in the liturgical planning and construction of the Cathedral Church of Saints Peter & Paul - Clifton in the years leading up to the Opening and Consecration in June 1973. I was closely involved in the work on the Way of the Cross. May I recommend that you use the title "Way of the Cross", as there are many more Stations than the 14 that we have grown used to in the last century or so, in addition to the 14 selected for Clifton Cathedral and sanctioned for use by the Holy See.

I selected the scriptural texts for the 14 Stations used in the Cathedral. The pictures may be located on the Cathedral website at www.cliftoncathedral.org.uk - select the left hand menu 'The Cathedral' and seek the appropriate pages.

The title of each Station are as shown on the website - note each one starts Jesus

1 Jesus shares the Last Supper with his disciples
Matthew 26 : 26 - 28
2 Jesus prays in the graden
Luke 22 : 39 - 46
3 Jesus is betrayed and arrested

4 Jesus is disowned by Peter
Luke 22 : 54 - 62

10 Jesus is nailed to the Cross
Luke 23 : 33 - 38

12 Jesus forgives the repentant thief

The scriptural text is copyright being the Jerusalem Bible version and usual copyright procedures and permissions apply.

If you wish to make use of my photographs I am happy that you do so with the usual acknowledgement ' © Peter Harrison 2001 used by kind permission'.

In the years following the Opening of the Cathedral, a booklet containing prayers was produced and used. I have this text, but felt it was much too lengthy to put on the Cathedral website, so I decided not to use them. They are also copyright and permission would be required of the copyright holder if you decided you want to use them.

I would be very interested to hear more about your venture and what use you make of the Way of the Cross and how people respond. In practice we have found them a very acceptable for example in ecumenical gatherings, and in the context of youth celebrations. I would like to hear about your ideas and experiences. We at Clifton might even wish to use your prayers when composed!

If I can be of further assistance please do ask.
